25 years’ experience in managing quarries and dimension stone production, masonry and pavement design and installation. Ongoing Involvement in professional development for designers and vocational training for operatives. Active in the Stone Federation of Great Britain (SFGB) and the German Stone Federation (DNV). 1989 CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) programme for practical skills training for construction of modular pavements.
1999 Joint authorship of “Designing with stone” Ealing Publications.
2000 Joint authorship of the “SCOTS Report on Pavement Design”, carried out in conjunction with Heriot Watt University and TRL (Transport Research Laboratory).
2000-2002 Chairman of “British Stone”, the UK industry body representing dimension stone quarry operators.
2004- Member of SFGB Technical Committee (Stone Federation of Great Britain).
