Architectural Memory - Landscape Design of the Baptiste House

Architectural Memory - Landscape Design of the Baptiste House

Location: Columbia

The landscape design of the Baptiste House was conceived to create spaces of contemplation, tranquillity and a fluid connection between the inside and the outside. Inspired by the subtle movements of the breeze, the landscape seeks to create a serene atmosphere that enriches the sensory experience of those who inhabit the site. Carefully designed gardens provide niches for bird life, promoting biodiversity and strengthening the link between architecture and nature.

Located in the savannah of Bogotá, the landscape proposal engages in a dialogue with its surroundings, integrating the outdoor spaces with the ecological corridors that connect the hills and the river. This relationship with the larger landscape is reinforced by the selection of predominantly native species, which favours the regeneration of the ecosystem and the presence of pollinators. The vegetation fulfils not only an aesthetic function, but also an ecological one, allowing the preservation of habitats and the adaptation of the space to the natural dynamics of the territory.

The gardens have been designed as living spaces where temporality and seasonal change enrich the perception of the place. The landscaping accompanies the architecture, highlighting its lines and volumes and blurring the boundaries between the built and the natural. Overall, the landscape design of the Baptiste House transcends its ornamental function and becomes an essential element of the living experience, promoting a harmonious balance between man and their environment.
