Location: Africa
MASK Architects has designed the world’s first Eco-Tourism BAOBAB Luxury Safari Resort in Africa, producing its own water autonomously using Air-to-Water technology powered by transparent solar glass.
This project is not only a luxury retreat but also a solution-driven initiative addressing environmental and socio-economic challenges in Africa. Our goal is to make clean water accessible, not a luxury, combating hunger, thirst, and related diseases. By blending smart, sustainable design with technology, we aim to support local communities in remote areas, providing infrastructure, agriculture, jobs, and energy solutions.
Each modular lodge integrates Air-to-Water technology, extracting humidity from the air and filtering it into purified drinking water. Transparent solar panels on curtain glass generate electricity, making the lodges self-sufficient. The system channels air through façade-integrated filters, capturing moisture and converting it into a water network for those in need.
The BAOBAB Safari Lodges are designed as self-sustaining eco-communities, supporting local agriculture, farming, and manufacturing while offering jobs to locals. The adaptable, expandable structures are affordable and scalable for various terrains. Raised 3.5 meters above the ground for safety and panoramic views, the lodges feature pools, wildlife interaction zones, and immersive safari experiences.
Inspired by Baobab trees and local culture, the lodges integrate nature and luxury. They can be used for various purposes, from tourism to education, conservation, and eco-living. This innovative concept fosters environmental awareness, economic empowerment, and a sustainable future for Africa’s remote communities.
